Here at Clevedon golf club, we have an active and lively ladies’ section with around 70 playing members. We like to make sure that everyone has plenty of opportunity to play both competitive and social golf.
We play ladies competitions on a Wednesday morning throughout the year as well as once or twice a month on a Sunday during the summer. Our competitions range from individual qualifying competitions in the summer, to fun team events in the winter.
In addition, the monthly club weekend competitions are open to all, and we hold social mixed events each Bank Holiday. We have two teams in the Bristol and District Lady Golfers Alliance, with our A team now in Division 2 and our B team playing in Division 3. Players are selected in handicap order and the matches are played off scratch. For the higher handicapped members, we have several Friendly matches a year which are played against other local clubs, giving everyone a chance to play friendly but sociable matches. We also hold an annual invitation day, where members can invite friends from other clubs to join them for a day of golf and dining.
As well as these, the Ladies' Captain organises an away day and an overnight trip, as well as a Spring and Christmas dinner; she also organises two fun competitions a year. Our now annual open Coffee Morning in March also brings our creative ladies together as they prepare many different items for the various stalls on offer. The highlight of the golfing and social year is the Lady Captain's day, held in the summer.
Our ladies’ section is vibrant, supportive and friendly and we are always pleased to welcome new members, regardless of golfing ability. We have a New Members Liaison Officer to help newcomers find their feet, to find playing partners and to help with handicap matters, so that they can feel at home from day one.
If you are interested in joining us, just get in touch with the office and we’ll be delighted to show you around and welcome you to our club.
