We have an active ladies’ section here at Clevedon with around 70 playing members. There is plenty of opportunity to play both competitive and social golf.
Ladies competitions are played on a Wednesday morning throughout the year and once or twice a month on a Sunday during the summer. These range from qualifying competitions in the summer, to fun team events in the winter.
In addition there are monthly club competitions at weekends open to all, and mixed events each Bank Holiday. We have two teams in the Bristol and District Lady Golfers Alliance, with our A team now in Division 1, having been promoted in two successive seasons. Players are selected in handicap order and the matches are played off scratch. For the higher handicapped members, we have 12 Friendly matches a year played against other local clubs, which are as their name suggests, are friendly and enjoyed by all.
On the social scene, the Ladies' Captain generally organises two fun competitions a year, an away day and an overnight trip, as well as a Spring and Christmas dinner. The highlight of the year being her Captain's day in the summer.
The ladies’ section is vibrant, friendly and always pleased to welcome new members regardless of golfing ability. We have a New Members Liaison Officer to help newcomers find their feet so they feel at home from day one.
Our now annual open Coffee Morning also brings our creative ladies together as they prepare many different items for the various stalls on offer.
If you are interested in joining us, just get in touch with the office and we’ll be delighted to show you around.
