Seniors
I am delighted and privileged to be asked to serve as Captain of the Seniors’ Section of this excellent club.
Having lived most of my life in Clevedon, and, as a child, playing in the ruins of Walton Castle, yet in awe of the golfing fraternity as they hit from in front of it down to what is now the 16th green, it seems life has come full circle.
As a result of joining the Seniors’ Section in 2005/6, thereby participating in competitions, and matches since, I have met many more members and made more friends than would have been possible without doing so.
The section is a vibrant, happy and welcoming group, full of very able people who have led very interesting lives.
It is my hope that I can serve the club well during the coming year.
It will be an honour indeed to lead the ‘Yellow Shirts’.
There are many matches organised against other clubs and many opportunities, at a very reasonable cost, for senior members to play in Seniors’ Opens in the area, as well as to take part in the social events that take place from time to time.
The Seniors’ Membership list is handled by our Treasurer, Colin Maskell, and he or I would be willing to give you full details of our 2011 programme.
I look forward to making your acquaintance should you be a ‘new’ Senior, and if an ‘old one’ I look forward to another year of cheerful fellowship.
Enjoy 2011, on the course, and afterwards!
